Distance Education University

Basically, a distance education university is a learning institution that while based mainly on an actual college campus, offers an online component. This could be simply a few courses, or one or two complete major programs, or even the entire college curriculum.

A distance education university can help with the completion of an associates, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree.

So why would someone want to consider enrolling in a distance education university? Most students tend to prefer this type of education simply because of the flexibility and freedom to complete coursework on their time at their pace.

Distance education university programs tend to be very popular with working adults because on-campus attendance is not required. So, they can keep their 9-5 or 3-11 or 12-8 job and not have to worry about being awake or available to sit in a classroom.

Students can access their course portal at any computer with an internet connection to obtain their coursework, participate in bulletin boards and chat sessions and listen to lectures that may be provided. (Of course, the option of proper classroom attire is always another plus to distance education universities. You can “attend” class in your sweatpants and grungy tank top with your bunny slippers if you’d like. There’s no one to judge your appearance from your own computer.)

There’s the other great aspect of distance education universities. If you are a resident of Appleton, Wisconsin and want to attend Boston University, it’s just a “click” away. No commuting, no dormitory living, no meal plans.
