I am fascinated by the field of law. Being a former member of a school debate team I really enjoyed gathering information, studying all sides of it and developing sound and strong arguments to present to my opponent. But now that I’m a bit older, I still feel the same pull towards the study of law, but not really sure if I want to actually become a lawyer.

Fortunately for me, I came across a Master of Science in Law degree offered by Champlain College. This was exactly what I was looking for and began doing my dance of joy! I then realized that I didn’t live in Vermont, but Connecticut. While the drive wouldn’t be too bad for me, after a short while it would get really old. However, I then noticed that it’s an online degree, and continued my dance of joy since I could enroll and complete the course from home. So far, I’ve found many advantages to this program that I didn’t even consider when I began searching for an on line university course in law. Champlain college offers 6 start dates per year, so I can practically enroll at any time. The Masters degree program is made up of fourteen 3-credit hour courses, and it seems to work in a “cohort” system where I’ll be working with the same small group of students from start to finish. That will definitely help me in making good solid contacts, establishing relationships, and getting to share a bit of my witty sense of humor with others.

Based on the information provided on Champlain’s website, I’ll be enrolling in a program that will be completed in approximately 2 1/2 years, taking two courses at a time. There is also a 3-day residency program that is offered a few times a year, so there are a few chances for me to accomplish that part of the course. This residency program needs to be completed in the first 6 months of enrolling. Not only will I get a chance to see beautiful green (in the summer) or white (in winter) Vermont, but I’ll also be about 20 minutes from the Ben & Jerry’s Factory!

There are also a few areas of focus that I can study within the program:

  • Managerial Law
  • Intellectual Property Law
  • Human Resources Law
  • Health Law

This type of program is ideal for Managers and strategists, Human resources workers, Program directors, Health professionals, Policy makers and advocates, and even foreign attorneys who wish to learn more about United States Law.
