Growing up, my family were most definitely ”dog” people. By that I mean people that own dogs, not that they’re actually part-human, part-dog. I never actually had a dog myself, although my grandmother did, and I really enjoyed adopting this dog as my own. I was never a “cat” person until I owned one. Now, after several years of being a cat owner, as well as volunteering at a local animal shelter, I have been considering a change in career. No more office, no more desk, no more computer. It would be just the animals and me, as a veterinary assistant.
There are many schools that will let you earn a diploma in veterinary assisting, but not many of them can let you accomplish that online. However, Ashworth Career School is ready to take on that challenge and enable students like me to earn their diploma to become a veterinary assistant. Veterinary Assistants perform a variety of duties in veterinary clinics including administering first aid, ordering supplies, providing guidance for patients, admitting the sick and injured animals for treatment, and more. Veterinary Assistants can also find employment in kennels, animal shelters, humane societies, breeding services, zoos, and grooming salons.
Ashworth Career School provides students with a 22-class online program that includes the following courses:
- A Day in the Life of a Veterinary Assistant

The best part of this program, however, is the price. For just $49/mo, with a total tuition of just around $1,200 including textbooks, students can earn a diploma in veterinary assisting. Financial aid is available, but even without it, this course of study is extremely affordable.
